Freeoffice snapfiles5/31/2023 I finally used the Task Manager to break out of the process. OK, seems logical, but then the usual green progess bar would just burp at the seeming end and restart itself, over and over, for half an hour. Figuring, ok, I have BACKUPS, why not then allow my pws to exist on their encrypted server instead? I guess that might be ok, but then after ok'ing it, the installer's next step was to Import my passwords. It's all in the browser.ĭuring the install of this on Win7 you'll come to a point where it will ask you if you want to proceed AND ERASE ALL LOCAL PASSWORDS ON YOUR SYSTEM. It turns out one has to not only have a Plex online 'account', but one has to be logged in there, and then the UI works. Popping that and opening PLEX, nothing happened. The other problem, more of a small annoyance, is that when first run nothing showed up on the Win7 Taskbar except a tray icon. No such problem with Serviio, flawless in that regard. Or maybe it's a result of the Plex program insisting on a libraries and playlist model, like iTunes, instead of being user-folders oriented. Maybe it would work better if you have the default My Photos etc on C. Thank god it didn't touch my actual files, it just built its own database wrong. Same thing when viewing the photos or music folders. But then when browsing on the Win7 PC or on the big TV, the videos folder was full of photos and music as well, a mishmash of media. It did allow me to do the pointing to these folders on my media storage drive, without complaint, good. from didn't correctly identify my local media in my folders I pointed it at - videos, photos, music. I still feel it's better than it has been, and still a great substitute for Word if need be.For me (YMMV) this latest v1. I can't fault other peoples' reviews on this either, if it won't work as an office software(which it was intended), it's not much good then. OpenOffice and AbiWord I'll use over this, even MS Word. I won't say I will use it over others because I won't. There have been other hiccups along the way but really, if looking for a free full featured office software, this is. The problem, one time I can import a docx and it will format it fine, headings, etc. Some respect on my part for the complexity of this application for free.Īs far as usage, It handles it's own documents as well as office documents. I and others have used this numerous times and yes, there are some bugs but I can't give it lower than a 4 star for what this offers. Since it is multi-platform, collaborating on Windows and Linux can be done seamlessly. It is best to use LibreOffice on its own. Interoperability with Microsoft Office can be a bit of a problem, but it is possible. (Still, since the new 5.2 version they even implemented a single-toolbar mode.) Its user interface uses the now "old school" multi-toolbar and menu-oriented access, but for me, as a long time computer user, it is a plus. Stability-wise it is on par or better than Microsoft Office. LibreOffice never fails to impress me with its rapid development cycle and continuous addition of (useful!) new features.īy now it already incorporates all essential and convenience (like "hide empty space") features I like in other office suites, and there are some "hidden" gems in it, like the excellent LibreLogo programming language to create drawings.
